Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports

What is PBIS?

School-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Support is an approach comprised of intervention practices and organizational systems for establishing the social culture, learning and teaching environment, and individual behavior supports needed to achieve academic and social success for all students.

Improving student academic and behavior outcomes is about ensuring that all students have access to the most effective and accurately implemented instructional and behavioral practices and interventions possible.  This approach provides an operational framework for achieving these outcomes.  More importantly, this approach is NOT curriculum, intervention, or practice, but IS a decision making framework that guides selection, integration, and implementation of the best evidence-based academic and behavioral practices for improving important academic and behavioral outcomes for ALL students.
