Safe Routes to Schools

The Lawndale Elementary School District is working to improve safety for students and their parents traveling to and from our schools. Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts about walking or bicycling to school by participating in an on-line survey. Communication from the Golden State Water Company
Just today, December 19th, 2011, the District received a written communication from the Golden State Water Company referencing the fact that their water system had levels of bacteria above the drinking water standards back in November 2011.

While the memo states “You do not need to boil your water or take other corrective actions”, we are required by the Health and Safety Code to notify school employees, students, and parents of this information. Billy Mitchell and Mark Twain Elementary Schools Recipients of 2011 Title I Academic Achievement Award
The criteria to qualify for the Title I Academic Achievement Award have become more rigorous in recent years. To meet the criteria for this distinction, the school must demonstrate that all students are making significant progress toward proficiency on California's academic content standards. Additionally, the students must have doubled the achievement targets set for them for two consecutive years.
FREE Breakfast and Lunch for Kids
Lawndale Elementary School District is pleased to extend our free summer breakfast and lunch program to all children, ages 1 – 18 in our community.
Funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Seamless Summer Feeding Program provides meals in low income areas during the summer to children ages 1 – 18. The program’s purpose is to fill the void left by the absence of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs in the summer months. The operational funds are meant specifically for children’s meals and cannot be used for any other purpose. For more information visit: www.cde.ca.gov/ls/nu/sn/ssfo.asp.
GRATIS Desayuno y Almuerzo Gratis Para Todos Los Niños
El distrito escolar de Lawndale se complace en extender el programa de desayuno y almuerzo gratis para los niños en nuestra comunidad entre las edades de 1 a 18 años.
Financiado por el Departamento de Agricultura de Los Estados Unidos (USDA), el Programa de Alimentación de Verano Sin Costuras ofrece alimentos en áreas de bajos ingresos para niños entre las edades de 1-18 años. El objetivo del programa es llenar el vacío que queda por la ausencia de los Programas de Desayuno y Almuerzo Escolares Nacionales en los meses de verano. Los fondos operacionales son designados expresamente para comidas de niños y no pueden ser usados para ningún otro objetivo.

Important information about inter-district permits/ Información importante acerca de permisos entre distritos
Students who are already enrolled at another school on an inter-district permit, DO NOT have to reapply annually for a release from their district of residence.

Estudiantes que ya estan matriculados en una escuela con permiso entre distritos, NO TIENEN que aplicar anualmente para salir del distrito de residencia.
