Fringe Benefits

The Lawndale Elementary School District provides fringe benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance to eligible employees. For enrollment forms and explanation of benefits, click the plan name.

Open Enrollment
LESD benefits are on a calendar plan year (1/1/XX - 12/31/XX). Open enrollment period for employees wishing to make changes to their plans is usually around late October to early November. New rates and plan information pertaining to open enrollment will be sent via email to eligible employees.

The district offers two HMOs and one PPO. Health Maintenance Organization (HMO).

Vision Plan

The district offers one vision plan.

Life Insurance

The district provides life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance through The Hartford. Additional/supplemental insurance can be purchased by the employee. 


The district participates in and contributes to CalPERS, CalSTRS, Metlife (Social Security Alternative), depending on your employment type. Typically, certificated employees are members of CalSTRS, full-time classified employees are CalPERS, and part-time classified employees are Metlife.

    • District contributes 16.28% (2018-19), 18.15% (2019-20), and 19.10% (2020-21). Employee contribute 10.205% (PEPRA) or 10.25% (Classic)

    • District contributes 18.062%. Employee contributes 7.00%.
  • Metlife (800-856-7772)
    • District contributes 3.75%. Employee contributes 3.75%.
